===== Fire Effect with Gimp =====
If you want a fire effect with Gimp you can do the following:

Create a layer filled with black & use the smoke brush on it
Open the Gradients (Windows Dockable Dialogs Gradients)
Choose the flame-ish gradient “Incandescent”
While the layer with the smoke brush on it is selected, use “Colors Map Gradient Map”
