✔ Vibrancy Masking

Vibrancy masking lets you choose whether you’d like the vibrancy to appear in the neutral or vibrant areas. For example, you can use the “Protect Neutral” actions in landscape photos to prevent rocks from turning colorful.

✔ Protect Skin Tones with Face Detection

A lot of times, photographers would avoid increasing the vibrance altogether simply to protect skin tones. With the “Protect Skin Tones” actions, you can boost vibrancy while protecting skin tones. Face detection can also be used for more accurate results.

Photoshop’s vibrance was designed for typical landscape & portrait photos – typically darkening blue skies & shifting skin tones towards yellow to hide oversaturation. It protects your photos from oversaturation but this can often lead to a weak effect.

Saturation

Unliike Photoshop’s vibrance, saturation is a straightforward way to boost vibrancy. It alters the saturation & lightness values.

Old Saturation

Before Adobe released the vibrance adjustment, the common way to boost vibrancy was with the saturation slider in the Hue/Saturation adjustment. The saturation slider in the Hue/Saturation adjustment is different than the one in the Vibrance adjustment. This old saturation method alters the saturation value but does not affect the lightness.
