Ocovilla is a playful & offbeat font with a papercut look. It was inspired by a vintage magazine ad for leasing a Palm Springs home. The dance of the lettering & the quirky styling of the the words “Ocotillo Lodge” were screaming to be expanded out to a full typeface with an expanded language glyph set. It contains a small caps for a lowercase, maintaining the same subtle bounce of the original reference. Perfect for a range of designs that require a heavy handed personal touch.

Sometimes the inspiration for my typefaces comes from vintage ephemera, & this is the perfect example of that. Magazines of the 50’s & 60’s were littered with custom lettering for various ads & titling. The unique bounce & handcut look of the lettering caught my eye instantly. It was fun experimenting with the wonkiness of the papercut style. I hope you’ll have as much fun using the font as I had creating it.
